Twilight Monk immerses you in the darkly poetic world of Speria, where the last heir of the ancient warrior monks confronts the chaos unleashed by the traitor Nox. The protagonist, Razil, is armed with an unusual weapon - the Phantom Column, which serves as a giant flail in battle, a hook for parkour, and even a key to puzzles. This multifunctional tool makes every fight a dance - you will crush enemies with a heavy chain, parry attacks with its massive core, and then use inertia for lightning-fast dashes across platform sections.
The exploration is based on the principles of Metroidvania: early locations hold secrets that are only accessible after acquiring new skills. But instead of a single interconnected world, the game offers a journey across a vast JRPG-style map — from snowy monasteries to the ruins of ancient civilizations. Along the way, you will encounter not only traditional platforming challenges, but also random encounters with monsters that will take you to special arenas. Character upgrades depend on battles: the more enemies you defeat, the stronger your attacks will become and new combos will open up. Additional depth is added by talismans that change characteristics and a system of temporary power-ups through food.
The visual style is the project's trump card. Each frame looks like a page of a graphic novel with a cinematic presentation: shadows play on the frescoes of ruined temples, the animation of blows conveys the power of the Phantom Column, and the design of the creatures balances between Asian folklore and the author's fantasy. Even the interface is stylized as ancient scrolls. The difficulty may put off newcomers (especially in boss battles), but a generous checkpoint system softens this moment.
