WPS Office Premium is an entry-level office application for home or small business. It is mainly focused on home use and students, but its bundled programs are also suitable for small businesses as it offers word processing, spreadsheets, and a Powerpoint clone.
Having said that, WPS Office Premium is 100% compatible with the program it clones, so it can open and work with Excel spreadsheets, Word documents (.doc, .docx), and Powerpoint files (.PPT, PPTX, .DPS, etc.).
The word-processing component is called Writer; it looks and functions virtually identically to most office word processors we've seen over the past few years, and the graphics are very similar to what you've seen in Microsoft Word and Corel WordPerfect. The word processor also supports PDF documents and can save your documents as Adobe PDF that can be viewed in Adobe Reader or on the web. Needless to say, Kingsoft Writer has an excellent spell checking function.
The Powerpoint counterpart of WPS Office is called Presentation Professional. It can save, edit and create almost any presentation compatible with Microsoft Powerpoint.
The final part of the bundle is an implementation of WPS Office Premium's spreadsheet app; we didn't actually spend much time testing this aspect, but it functions virtually identically to Microsoft Excel, albeit looking a little different.
WPS Office One of the standard Office product features is something Microsoft Office users have been craving for years: tabs. It's apparently unique to this suite (or was), makes browsing through files much quicker and makes multitasking much easier! File encryption is also a built-in function of WPS.
Finally, the program size and cost are much smaller than Microsoft Office, although not free like OpenOffice! It installed quickly and ran reasonably quickly on our system.
