Most of the time, compressed files can be useful when you are reducing disk space or sharing files online. Having a tool that allows you to compress and decompress files when needed is a must, even for the average Windows user.
NanaZip is an open source derivative of 7-Zip, which means it is a fork of the well-known file archiver. Please note that the app is in its early stages, so what you see right now is not the final product.
As mentioned earlier, this tool is essentially a fork of 7-Zip and therefore comes with all the extensive support and features of the popular program, including compression and decompression capabilities as well as encryption and multiple file management tools. If you want to migrate from 7-Zip, the developer has included a runtime alias to help users with the transition.
Regarding file support, this tool is compatible with many file formats, such as MSI, NTFS, RAR, RPM, UDF or CHM, just to name a few. Furthermore, the application supports Brotli, Fast-LZMA2, Lizard, LZ4, LZ5, and Zstandard codecs.
Since the application is still in development, it has some known issues that will be fixed in future versions. For example, sometimes you cannot see the application in the context menu after installation. To fix this inconvenience, you will have to restart Windows Explorer via the Task Manager.
If you are looking for a file archiver that is low on resources, has wide support, and has all the features that a file archiver should have, you may consider giving Nana Zip a try.
